Proceedings

The submitted papers that successfully undergo reviewing procedure will be published in the Feature Issue of Applied Optics. Manuscript preparation rules are available here

This Applied Optics feature issue - to appear in the Information Processing division - will celebrate the scientific careers of Professors Antoni Sliwinski and Adrian Korpel through a sampling of current research topics in acousto-optics that they pioneered. Dr. Sliwinski published articles covering more than 40 years of research in acousto-optics, and was instrumental in the development of the Spring School on Acousto-Optics and Applications since 1980 that is regarded as a research center in acousto-optics in Poland and abroad. From his direct observation of optically induced generation and amplification of sound in the 1960s, to his development of the multiple plane-wave scattering model and Feynman diagram approach to interpret and analyze acousto-optic interactions in the 1980s and later, Dr. Korpel made many fundamental contributions to acousto-optics. Both Drs. Sliwinski and Korpel have authored numerous papers (including several that are regarded as classic), research monographs and books on the subject of acousto-optics. Along the way, they have guided and inspired many students and researchers to build their careers around acousto-optics and other areas of optics in general.

This feature issue will contain original papers based on a representative selection of topics that will be presented at the 10th School on Acousto-Optics and Applications, to be held in Sopot, Poland, May 2008, as well as additional papers that are relevant. In general, there are no limit on published pages in Applied Optics. However, OSA does require an overlength publication charge of $200 per printed page in excess of ten pages. Do not worry about this as if you paper is over length, OSA will let you know and you can either shorten the paper or pay the charge. You can submit the manuscripts through the website at OSA.
