Dear Colleagues,

it is our pleasure to extend an invitation to the student-doctoral scientific conference entitled: Internet and Text. New media in the theoretical and literary perspective. The conference is organized by the Literary Theorists Research Club at the University of Gdańsk and will be held on 3–4 April 2020 at the University of Gdańsk.

The focus of conference is reflecting upon the consequences of the practical application of theoretical-literary and literary methodologies in research into broadly understood new media.

The themes of the conference are related to:

- the impact of literature on new media and the impact of new media on literature;

- remediation of a literary text;

- sender and recipient status in the world of online texts;

- forms of autobiographical creation in online communications;

- animal entities in virtual space;

- "new" communication act codes (emoticons, GIFs, etc.);

- social media discourse;

- narrative forms in new media;

- new genres in the internet world;

and other topics you might suggest.

We invite literary scholars, linguists, literary theorists, media and cultural scholars and other researchers interested in the subject. What we hope to achieve is diversity of insights and analyzes in sessions and interdisciplinary panel discussions. After the conference, we plan to publish a peer-reviewed monograph online.

The deadline for sending abstracts is 15 February  2020. The conference fee is PLN 200 for students and PhD candidates and PLN 400 for researchers. The fee covers the cost of lunch on the day of the presentation and the cost of publication.
