In the Life Science, Physical Science and Psychology field rankings published on September 16, 2021, the University of Gdańsk was among the best ranked Polish universities.
In the field of Life Science, our university is listed among 12 Polish universities and ranks just behind the strict podium occupied by the best national academies: the University of Warsaw (ranked 401-500 in the world in the Life Science field in question), the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, and the Jagiellonian University (both ranked in the range 501-600). The University of Gdańsk is ranked fourth in the table of Polish universities in the 601-800 range worldwide, together with the University of Łódź and Łódź University of Technology, SGGW, and the University of Wrocław. Below the 800 threshold, UMCS, UMK, UWM and the University of Life Sciences in Wrocław were classified. A total of 972 universities from around the world with the greatest contribution to disciplines such as biological sciences, agriculture and forestry, veterinary science and sports sciences were listed in this category.
Another field - physical sciences - is represented in THE 2022 listing by 1,227 higher education institutions from around the world leading in the following disciplines: mathematics and statistics, physics and astronomy, chemistry, geology, environmental sciences, and earth and marine sciences, 16 of which are Polish universities. Among them, UG is ranked in a high sixth place. The best national university in this category is Warsaw University (range 301-400 in the world), the podium is completed by Gdansk University of Technology and Jagiellonian University (range 601-800). Our university is ranked in the 801-1000 range worldwide, behind UAM and AGH. Other universities ranked in this range are UMK, the Poznan, Silesian and Warsaw Universities of Technology and the University of Wroclaw. Further down in the 1001+ bracket are the University and Polytechnic of Łódź, UMCS, UWM and the Wrocław University of Technology.
Psychology in this year's THE WUR 'by subject' ranking is represented by 568 universities from all over the world, 6 of them being Polish institutions, of which the highest ranked are: University of Warsaw (range 201-250 worldwide), University of Wrocław (251-300), and SWPS University (301-400). UG, together with UAM and UJ, occupies the 501+ range.
THE WUR 'by subject' rankings include an increasing number of universities each year. They are based on precisely developed indicators, such as those used to create the overall Times Higher Education World University Ranking, but the methodology for their use has been calibrated to match individual disciplines.
