The final of the 6th National Freight Forwarding and Logistics Competition at the Faculty of Economics UG

The final competition of the sixth edition of the National Shipping and Logistics Competition, organised by the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk for secondary school students interested in issues related to transport, logistics and shipping, is approaching. The participants will compete for a transcript of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk and attractive material and financial prizes.

The finals will be held on April 7 and 8 at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk.

The competition will be attended by 48 finalists. From October 21, 2021, till March 4, 2022, two competition stages were held: school and district, during which students solved tasks and answered questions related to the functioning of logistics, international transport and forwarding.

The tasks were prepared by the team of the Main Committee of the Competition comprising of scientists and practitioners - lecturers of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk.

The competition is becoming more and more popular every year. 5462 students from 275 schools applied for the first stage of the current edition. 812 participants from all the voivodships qualified for the second stage.

In the final competition, the participants will compete for tickets to the Faculty of Economics at the University of Gdańsk, majoring in economics and international economic relations, and prizes. The sponsors of the prizes are the Ministry of Education and Science and the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk, and special prizes are awarded by our commercial partners:

Moreover, in this year's edition, the prizes for the best forwarder and the best logistician (founded by TD s.c. Publishing House) will be awarded for the first time.

The Competition is not only about rivalry, it is also about building a community of professionals and future practitioners, which is manifested in the webinars and seminars prepared by the Faculty of Economics, as well as building a network of community associated with the idea of the Competition. The program of the central competition, in addition to the competition part, also includes other attractive activities - workshops for students and training for teachers - and supervisors, as well as a study visit to the largest container terminal on the Baltic Sea - DCT Gdansk.

Information about the Faculty of Economics

At the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk, students have the opportunity to obtain broad and thorough knowledge within the fields of study: economics, international economic relations (including the English-language specialisation in international business), chemical business and ecological business and technology. In the second year of studies, students choose the profile of education within 20 specialisations, providing modern qualifications sought in the labour market. At present at the Faculty of Economics, there are over 3,000 full-time and part-time students, post-graduate students and PhD students, the scientific and didactic staff consists of over 130 academic teachers.

Studies are conducted in cooperation with business practitioners and organisations, domestic and foreign research institutes, science and technology parks and business incubators. Students benefit from training cycles, workshops with managers, internships, study visits and study abroad trips within the ERASMUS+ programme. Within the framework of practical training, the Faculty has, among others, a computer laboratory called London Stock Exchange Group Eikon Lab, which provides access to the world's leading financial database, a dealing room - a simulator of a bank's treasury department, OSTC trading laboratory, specialist logistics laboratory (Oracle, Aris, SAP) and a computer and examination centre accredited by ACCA. The Faculty offers education in specialisations allowing to follow a career path in the TSL sector, such as logistics, transport and forwarding, international transport and sea trade, but also in related sectors, such as international trade and blue economy.
