Every Thursday, young and experienced scientists will be able to take part in a discussion and talk about their projects. The initiator of the series of meetings is dr hab. Agnieszka Piotrowska, who stays at the UG as a research professor. The nearest one - is already on April 7, at 1 pm at MS Teams.
At the end of the 18th century, one of the most important cyclical events for Polish culture was Thursday Dinners organised by Stanisław August Poniatowski, the last king of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Their form was to resemble Parisian salons. Every week, the most eminent Polish intellectuals and artists gathered at the Royal Castle. For the next 3-4 hours, they pondered great ideas and talked about their latest ventures.
The spirit of this tradition has haunted the University of Gdańsk, as similar meetings will take place at our university every week. 'Thursday Dinners' are an initiative of dr hab. Agnieszka Piotrowska, research professor at the Andrzej Wajda Film Centre UG. These meetings aim to cultivate a passion for intellectual discussion and cross-cultural exchange of ideas.
The next meeting will take place on April 7, at 1 pm. The event will begin with an approximately 20-minute presentation, followed by time for discussion. Regular participants of the 'Thursday Dinners' will be dr Priyanka Verma, dr Charmaine Dambuza, Babar Dogar and dr hab. Agnieszka Piotrowska, a research professor who chairs the meeting.
The event will be held on the Microsoft Teams platform. Click to join.
