Do you have a bike in the cellar that you no longer use? Or maybe your child has long outgrown his or her bike or scooter and now they just take up unnecessary space? Spring is a good opportunity to give such equipment a new lease of life. We will help you make sure they end up in the right hands.
Until April 29, the University of Gdańsk will be collecting used bicycles and scooters. You can bring unwanted equipment to the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Gdańsk and thus share the spring goodness with others in need.
The University plans to donate the bikes to refugees from Ukraine (mainly children), who are currently staying at University of Gdańsk student dormitories in Sopot. At the moment, they often can't even afford basic needs, and such things as a bike or a scooter remain only in the realm of dreams. We want to change this. The scooters will allow not only healthy fun in the fresh air, but also efficient movement around the city and acclimatisation in a new area.
We try to help refugees on an ongoing basis and secure their basic needs. At the Faculty of Social Sciences, a collection of the most necessary gifts, organised by UG students, has been going on since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. Help is needed all the time - at the moment the greatest need is food with a long shelf life, which we continue to collect.
Bicycles and scooters are accepted at the collection point in the Faculty of Social Sciences building, on the ground floor, Monday to Friday from 12:00 to 18:00 and on Saturdays from 11:00 to 19:00.
Remember that your bike or scooter should be clean and operational, as it will be a gift for someone.
