The April issue of the 'University Gazette' is now available. In it you can find, among others, an interview with prof. Iryna Ivanova, a scientist from Kharkiv, reports from the UG Open Days, and the reminiscences of the late dr. hab. Tadeusz Dmochowski, prof. UG.
The first article after the traditional review of current events is a report on the Open Days of the University of Gdańsk, which took place on April 21 and 22. The authors of the text talk, among others, to the Deputy Dean for Internationalisation and Development of the Faculty of Chemistry of UG, dr hab. Artur Giełdoń and a secondary school student who is thinking about choosing her major. - 'I think that thanks to the visit here I am already closer to choosing the faculty where I want to study,' - said Natalia, a participant of the open days.
Apart from energetic events, the latest issue also contains difficult conversations about the war in Ukraine. Sylwia Dudkowska-Kafar talks to prof. dr hab. Igor Hałagida about the current state of the conflict, while dr Beata Czechowska-Derkacz talks to Kharkiv-based scientist prof. Iryna Ivanowa about her experiences.
There were also memories of the deceased on March 23rd this year. Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences. Prof. dr hab. Tadeusz Dmochowski, prof. UG, was remembered by, among others, prof. dr hab. Piotr Stepnowski, Rector of UG and dr Kornel Bielawski from the Institute of Political Science. - 'We met Tadeusz Dmochowski at the beginning of the last term, when he took the post of Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and I became Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs. His disposition, shortened distance, directness and particular sense of humour meant that our relations quickly became friendly,' - recalled prof. Piotr Stepnowski.
