Academic Citizens' Budget - vote for projects!

From today, October 17, you can vote for selected projects in the first edition of the University of Gdańsk's Academic Citizens' Budget. Voting will continue until October 24.

The University of Gdańsk's Academic Civic Budget ('ABO UG') is a project in which students, doctoral students and employees of the University of Gdańsk could submit their ideas for the development of the university's infrastructure. There is PLN 200,000 to spend - 100,000 each for staff and student projects.

In June, the UG academic community had the opportunity to submit their ideas. A total of 58 projects were submitted, including 31 employee projects and 27 student projects. The competition committee finally qualified 42 projects for the voting stage - 25 in the pool of staff projects and 17 student ideas.

'The idea behind the project was to invite our academic community to co-create a friendly space in the university buildings and its immediate surroundings. I am delighted that so many employees, students and doctoral students of our university decided to submit their ideas to the first edition of the ABO UG. I hope that there will also be a good turnout during the voting and that the selected projects, once completed, will be enjoyed by the university community,' - says Vice-Rector for Students and Quality of Education dr hab. Arnold Kłonczyński, prof. UG, who chaired the committee evaluating the projects.

What projects were submitted?

'Among the submitted ideas were solar benches, bicycle racks and shelters, self-service bicycle repair stations, but also wall-mounted water dispensers, There are also several interesting proposals for the arrangement of green areas, such as small parks, a dendrological path or an academic community garden. Also noteworthy are ideas for the arrangement of indoor spaces for leisure and social purposes, as well as outdoor recreational spaces and sports and play infrastructure,' - informs Piotr Szpajer, ABO UG coordinator.

A list of all projects is available at https://ug.edu.pl/abo/lista-projektow-dopuszczonych-do-glosowania. Detailed information on each project is available by logging into the Employee Panel or Student Panel -https://abo.ug.edu.pl/Start.aspx under the Voting Projects tab.

Individuals who, at the time of voting, are both employees and students or doctoral students of the university - may vote in both categories (by logging in to the Employee Portal - select up to 3 projects from the list of employee projects, and logging in to the Student Portal - may select up to 3 projects from the pool of student projects).

The results of the vote will be announced on November 4. The staff and student projects with the highest support, with a total of PLN 100,000 in each of the two categories, will be selected for implementation and included in the university's spending plan for next year.

We wish all applicants for ABO UG projects the best of luck at the voting stage and encourage the entire community of our university to actively participate.
