70 students took part in the charity run ‘La Solidaire de Brest’, which took place on March 19, 2025, on the Campus of the University of Gdańsk in Oliwa. The aim of the event was to help people with disabilities by raising funds.

The idea was born in Brest, France, where representatives of universities cooperating within the SEA-EU alliance met more than once. ‘We saw how this race was organised and we formed a coherent SEA-EU team. We enjoyed it so much that we came up with the idea of organising similar events at individual universities,’ says Tomasz Aftański, Director of the University of Gdańsk's Centre for Physical Education and Sport.

During the three-kilometre run, they managed to cover a distance of 210 kilometres together, which is equivalent to the amount of 210 euros donated to support those in need. The campaign is still ongoing – until the end of March, anyone can join the group ‘La Solidaire de Brest 2025’ on the STRAVA app and support the initiative by running or walking.

In addition to the noble cause, the event also had a competitive character. Olga Kużelewska turned out to be the fastest among the women on the route. Ludwika Korniat was just behind her in second place and Olga Czaja in third. Szymon Gumkowski won in the men's category, with Dominik Bejnarowicz and Piotr Musiał taking the next places.

The organisation of this event by the University of Gdańsk is another step

in strengthening cooperation with the University of Brest and other universities belonging to the SEA-EU - European University of the Seas alliance.

Together we can do more!
