The library card catalog, formerly indispensable in every library, nowadays is becoming less and less informative. Cards sorted alphabetically or by subject, now somewhat forgotten, were once a signpost through the library's mazes.

The cards are different - there are thousands of them, handwritten or typed - each of them is unique. There are scientific personalities as well as devoted librarians behind them. The cards were written with great attention to detail, some with a genuine calligraphic precision.            

In cards written - 50 years of UG is a selection of several dozen cards from the card catalog of The Library of the University of Gdańsk. The works of the University of Gdańsk lecturers described on them have been collected by the Library since its beginning. Looking at the cards, we follow the history of our university.

The exhibition can be viewed from January 10 in The Main Library of the University of Gdańsk, ul. Wita Stwosza 53. Warmly welcome.
