This year edition of the AKADEMIA Fair takes place earlier than usual – on 10-11 March 2020.  The fair will host more than 60 exhibitors presenting offers from multiple Polish higher education institutions,   Matura exam preparatory courses, language courses, and post-secondary schools offers. Experts from Regional Examination Board will share their knowledge on Matura exam, career advisors and psychologists will assist in planning your professional career. Adding to all that, mock exams, diagnostic tests, inspiring lectures, science experiments and workshops will take place. UG OPEN DAYS allow you to visit faculties, labs, exhibitions, workshops and talk to the academic staff and students of the University of Gdańsk. All of the above mentioned elements add up to create the largest educational fair in Pomorskie Region – AKADEMIA 2020. The fair gives you excellent opportunity to collect valuable information before deciding what and where you want to study. Friendly atmosphere and the green area of the University of Gdańsk campus will help secondary students feel like future university students.

AKADEMIA 2020 Fair is a part of the University of Gdańsk 50th Anniversary Celebration Schedule.

Time and place: 10-11 March 2020, Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Gdańsk, 6 Bażyńskiego street, Gdańsk, University of Gdańsk Campus at Gdańsk Oliwa.

Exhibition stands will welcome visitors from 9am to 2pm. The fair is admission free.

The University of Gdańsk has organized AKADEMIA Fair, the largest and oldest educational fair in Pomorskie Region, for over 20 years now. It is addressed to students about to decide on their field of study, teachers and anyone interested in the educational offer of the university. Information stands of  post-secondary schools and stands of the biggest higher education institutions in Pomorskie Region and Poland will be available for the visitors. The University of Gdańsk will also present its educational offer and open enrollments to 85 fields of study(at all levels) for the 2020/2021 academic year. There are plans for more. Those fields of study fully comply with the market requirements. They are innovative and answer modern civilization challenges. They are all linked together through their interdisciplinarity, the new fields of study are created in consultation with the experts and employers. Students are able to intern at the best, profile adjusted institutions and enterprises.  The enrollment  for every University of Gdańsk field of study starts in June 2020.

Meetings with the representatives of Regional Examination Board, who will provide detailed information on Matura exams and answer even the most difficult questions, are scheduled during the AKADEMIA Fair. There will also be workshops concerning career path development and career planning, focused, among other things, on: stress management, creating the ideal resume, ways to succeed at job interviews, self-regulation, career planning. Also, Chemistry, Math, Biology, Polish Language and Physics mock Matura exams will take place (a last call to test your abilities and shortcomings shortly before the real exam in May) and diagnostic tests will be available for secondary school second graders (in Math, Biology, Chemistry).

 

UG OPEN DAYS 2020

This year UG OPEN DAYS take place on 6, 10, 11 and 20 March 2020. It is a great opportunity to tour the University of Gdańsk Campus, one of the most modern Polish campuses. Friendly atmosphere and the green area of the University of Gdańsk campus will help secondary students feel like future university students. Almost every University of Gdańsk faculty will be available for tours. You will be able to enter the most interesting laboratories and lecture halls to see the everyday work of scientists and students. There will be workshops, experiment shows, laboratories, lecture halls, museums and exhibitions tours. UG OPEN DAYS will be full of amusing events:

The Faculty of Biology will host lectures on: empathy in animal kingdom, basics of brain death, bio-psycho-social gender conditioning, signs of depression and many other. The open workshops will cover topics like : hearing tests, neurological tests, tattoo studio, mysteries of the dark, Alzheimer’s disease, senses of sight, hearing, smell, balance and even electric dance – ways to awake your body. The following workshops require previous booking: brain mysteries, neurobiological staining, mental training, invertebrates’ nervous system, prehistoric brain gone hunting.

The Faculty of Chemistry will host following lectures: ‘Antibiotic – friend or foe?, ‘Behind the scenes of anti-doping lab’, ‘I will find you! – chemistry in criminology’ ,’ Micro and macro plastic problem for the environment’, ‘ Viruses – what we know and should we be scared?’ and many others. Additionally, there will be workshops regarding odor-causing compounds, magical world of chemistry, eco-friendly cities,  color and electromagnetic radiation rendition. The amusing experiment shows will also take place, like: ‘Extraordinary chemical reactions’ and ‘Discover a chemist in you’.

The Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology will offer tours of its state-of-the-art facility and lectures on cancer diagnosis, uncovering secrets of the DNA, micro-organisms among us, the use of plants in biotechnology.

The Open Day at the Faculty of Economics consists mostly of the highly advanced learning facilities guided tours, financial data lab - Refinitiv Eikon Lab, OSTC trading lab, or the ACCA Computer Examination Center.

The Faculty of Languages will host workshops on: the state of current Russia and Russian culture, Scandinavian languages, acting in German and persuasive communication.

The Faculty of History will host lectures like: ‘ Charlatans, barber surgeons, cyrulics – on medical practitioners of the past and their therapies.’, ‘Not only Pokemon – Japanese pop culture’, ‘ Strigas, basilisks and chorts – Slavic demonology at the present time’. There will also be stands with artifacts from all over the world, antiquity games and General Haller trail.

The Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics will offer tests at the electrophysiology laboratory to learn what processes occur inside the human body. You will be able to use VR googles and train your brain with logical games. There will also be no shortage of physical phenomena shows and mathematical experiments.

The Faculty of Social Science will let you play the role of radio journalists, tour the relax room in search for answer – is there a recipe for healthy and happy life? There will also be lectures on: EU equality policy and human rights in Africa, among others.

The Faculty of Law and Administration offers the Criminology Museum tours, criminology and courtroom behavior workshops.

Activities at the Faculty of Management will help you learn to better invest and manage your time, learn the basics of statistics and tour the most compelling corners of the facilities and get to know how student research clubs operate.

You will also be able to tour one of the most advanced libraries in Poland, The Main Library of the University of Gdańsk will offer guided tours, revealing the magical world of books and places where thousands of students spends multiple hours studying for their tests and exams. Quiet rooms designed for study, special collections and Senate Hall, where the fate of the University is decided  - those are only some of the offered attractions.
