World Carnivorous Plant Day at the Faculty of Biology

To mark the 6th World Carnivorous Plant Day ( falling on 6 May), the Faculty of Biology invites you to join in the celebrations! Why not set aside some time on 15 and 16 May to take a closer look at these unique organisms?

The celebrations for World Carnivorous Plant Day at the Faculty of Biology, University of Gdańsk, scheduled for 15–16 May this year, will be combined with an Open Day for our National Collections: the genus Nepenthes and the genus Heliamphora.

The event is dedicated to education and the promotion of the conservation of carnivorous plants and their natural habitats, as well as the cultivation of these plants. So what can we expect as part of the celebrations at the Faculty of Biology, University of Gdańsk? Workshops, lectures, exhibitions, meetings with experienced growers and… a carnivorous plant fair!

On Friday 15 May, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., workshops and lectures for schools are scheduled, whilst from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., exhibitions and demonstrations will be open to all interested parties. Saturday 16 May is a day of exhibitions and demonstrations for everyone, as well as a carnivorous plant fair from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Faculty of Biology is located on the University of Gdańsk campus in Oliwa (59 Wita Stwosza Street, Gdańsk).
