Cooperation in the field of environmental education, environmental protection and promotion of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of Agenda 2030 among pupils, students and inhabitants of the Pomeranian region - these are the goals of the agreement signed today between the University of Gdańsk and the Hevelianum
The Centre for Sustainable Development of the University of Gdańsk, together with Hevelianum, will implement an educational program in the Spa House in Brzeźno within the framework of the agreement signed today. The interns of the Centre for Sustainable Development's Internship Program and students who are active in the University of Gdańsk's scientific circles have been invited to cooperate in the realization of joint projects.
University of Gdańsk and Hevelianum signed an agreement on cooperation in environmental education, environmental protection and promotion of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of Agenda 2030 among pupils, students and inhabitants of the Pomeranian region. The agreement was signed by the Rector Professor Piotr Stepnowski and the Director of the Hevelianum Paweł Golak in the presence of the Director of the Centre for Sustainable Development Sylwia Mrozowska, PhD, Professor UG and Anna Morawska, Deputy Director of the Hevelianum for Programm Affairs.
- Universities as institutions that teach, research and interact with society are especially predisposed to play an important role in supporting and disseminating the goals of sustainable development. Researchers and didacticians at our university have been engaged in such activities for many years at various levels. Currently, we want to involve also students, PhD students and scientific circles in this process - says Rector Professor Piotr Stepnowski.
The program concept of the Spa House prepared by Hevelianum is guided by the Agenda 2030 for the 17 goals of sustainable development. Around these challenges a program of universal education and conditions for civic activity in this area is being created. The framework of the annual programme will be constituted by important world ecological events.
- Climate protection activities require a comprehensive approach and, in order to be effective, as many entities as possible should be involved and cooperate. Therefore, creating a program of the Spa House in Brzeźno, which will be a place of ecological education, we welcome communities and institutions that understand these challenges. I am very happy that we have signed an agreement with the Centre for Sustainable Development of the University of Gdańsk - says Paweł Golak, Director of the Hevelianum.
Agenda 2030 is the world's development strategy to 2030. It contains 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It was adopted in 2015 when all 193 UN member states unanimously adopted the resolution "Transforming Our World: 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development."
- The University of Gdańsk is active in many areas for the benefit of environmental protection and ecology, first of all education, and in this respect today's agreement is the next stage of this activity - adds Professor Sylwia Mrozowska, Director of the Centre for Sustainable Development.
