The University of Gdańsk has been ranked 15th among Polish universities and 1050th in the world. This is another leap upwards for the University of Gdańsk in the Web of Universities ranking.
The results of the latest edition of Webometrics ranking (Ranking Web of Universities) were published. - 'It is the largest international ranking of universities created based on bibliometric and webometric indicators,' - explains Katarzyna Gregorowicz-Bielawska, Representative of the Rector for Rankings. - 'Its goal is to promote and increase the presence and recognition of academic and research institutions on the Internet and popularise open access to publications of scientific results,' - she adds.
The ranking was created in 2004 and is updated twice a year: in January and July. The data operator and creator of the ranking is the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group of the Spanish Superior Council for Scientific Research based in Madrid.
The latest edition of the ranking published web metrics for more than 31 thousand institutions of higher education and science from about 200 countries around the world, including 379 Polish universities.
The University of Gdansk is classified at 1050th place in the world and the 15th place among the universities in Poland. We are pleased with the continuous improvement of the position of our University in this ranking - for two years we have jumped 136 places up, improving our classification in each edition of the ranking by several dozen places!

Opublikowane zostały wyniki najnowszej edycji rankingu Webometrics (Ranking Web of Universities). - Jest to największy międzynarodowy ranking uczelni tworzony na podstawie wskaźników bibliometrycznych i webometrycznych – wyjaśnia Katarzyna Gregorowicz-Bielawska, Pełnomocnik Rektora ds. Rankingów. - Jego celem jest promowanie i zwiększanie obecności oraz rozpoznawalności instytucji akademickich i badawczych w Internecie oraz popularyzacja otwartego dostępu do publikacji wyników naukowych - dodaje.
Ranking powstał w 2004 i jest uaktualniany dwa razy w roku: w styczniu i w lipcu. Operatorem danych i twórcą zestawienia jest Cybermetrics Lab, grupa badawcza hiszpańskiej Najwyższej Rady Badań Naukowych z siedzibą w Madrycie.
W ostatniej edycji zestawienia opublikowano wskaźniki webometryczne dla ponad 31 tys. instytucji szkolnictwa wyższego i nauki z około 200 krajów całego świata, w tym dla 379 polskich uczelni.
Uniwersytet Gdański został sklasyfikowany na 1050 miejscu na świecie i na 15 miejscu wśród uczelni w kraju. Cieszy ciągła poprawa pozycji naszego Uniwersytetu w tym zestawieniu – od dwóch lat przeskoczyliśmy 136 miejsc w górę, poprawiając swą klasyfikację w każdej kolejnej edycji rankingu o kilkadziesiąt miejsc!
