Last days of recruitment to the UG vocal studio

The UG Academic Cultural Centre is starting a new project - we are looking for volunteers who, under the watchful eye of a vocalist, singing instructor and music producer - Krzysztof Majda, will develop their vocal skills and shape their stage personality.

If you are an artistic soul, have a valid UG student or PhD student card and want to develop your vocal skills, take part in the recruitment to the UG vocal studio, operating at the Alternator Academic Cultural Centre of the University of Gdańsk.

Until October 13th, record a video of a song of your choice and send it to the following address: studiowokalne@ug.edu.pl. By submitting the video, you are agreeing to take part in a live audition, which will take place on Saturday, October 16.

What can you gain? For a start, individual 45-minute classes twice a month, 2 hours of group classes a month, a professional demo recording once a year, the possibility of independent use of the practice room, work in a professional studio and stage conditions, regular participation in concerts, happenings, vocal shows, etc. organised by ACK UG and others.

You will be able to develop your skills under the guidance of Krzysztof Majda, a Tri-city singer, songwriter, music producer, arranger and vocal instructor. He is a graduate of the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk, specialising in jazz vocalism. He has performed, among others, at the Jazz Jantar Festival, the Musical Pleasures Festival and in the largest concert halls in the Tri-City. In 2017 he released his debut album Bieg zdarzeń - Tribute to Turnau. In 2018 he performed with the best Polish artists at London's Royal Albert Hall for the Polish community living in the UK on the occasion of 100 years of Polish independence.

How to prepare the video?

Record the video horizontally with your phone. Choose two pieces: one in Polish, one in English. Content, style and form are completely up to you. The songs must be recorded one after the other, on one video. Both your voice and the backing track must be audible on the video (your own accompaniment is acceptable). For the recording, position yourself so that you can see your silhouette from the waist up. If you want, you can sing through the microphone, but do not interfere with the recording (no editing, tuning or post-production).

Email the recording (studiowokalne@ug.edu.pl) as a link via Wetransfer, Google Drive, YouTube (as a non-public video), or whatever platform you use.

The recording will be judged on the following criteria: intonation, musicality (including basic vocal aptitude), interpretation and overall artistic expression.
