Periodic evaluation of academic staff at UG

The training for members of the evaluation committee, which lasted three days and ended on 13.10.2021, is part of the timetable implemented at the University of Gdańsk for the periodic evaluation of academic staff. Such evaluation must be carried out by December 31, this year. According to the guidelines of the Ministry of Science and Education.

At the University of Gdansk, according to the statutes amended in March this year, the periodic evaluation of academic staff conducted in 2021 will cover the period 2017 - 2021.

- 'The new principles on which the functioning of the university in the new system is based, changes in the legal status and the pandemic mean that periodic evaluation of academic staff is not an easy task at the moment,' - says Rector prof. dr hab. Piotr Stepnowski. - 'Therefore, together with the Vice-Rectors, we advocate far-reaching individualisation of periodic evaluations and performing them in consideration of specific social, pandemic and legal conditions, which undoubtedly also affect the situation of academic teachers. The main burden of decision-making in individual cases will therefore lie with the evaluation committees,' adds the Rector.

Since, according to the regulations in force and the information from the Ministry of Education and Science, the periodic evaluation of academic teachers at all universities has to be conducted by December 31, 2021 - the University Evaluation Committee of the University of Gdańsk has set the schedule of activities on September 16. Thus, hybrid training sessions for members of the evaluation committees were held on October 11-13. The meetings were opened by the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, dr hab. Anna Jurkowska-Zeidler, prof. UG, who emphasised the impact of employee evaluation on the future development of the University of Gdańsk staff. The complexity of legal regulations was explained by Marcin Brzeski from the UG Legal Office. The presenters were supported by dr hab. Monika Tomaszewska, prof. UG from the Labour Law Department of the Law and Administration Faculty of UG.

The meetings of the evaluation committees will be observed by the Ombudsman for Equal Treatment and Counteracting Bullying, dr hab. Joanna Kruczalak-Jankowska, prof. UG and her two deputies: dr hab. Magdalena Błażek and dr hab. Maciej Nyka, prof. UG.

Assessment in the University's organisational units should be completed by November 30, 2021.
