In the Social Sciences domain rankings published on 13 October 2021, the University of Gdańsk takes fourth position among Polish universities.
In the field of Social Sciences, our university is listed among 11 Polish universities and ranks just behind the strict podium occupied by SWPS University of Humanities and Social Sciences (ranked 401-500 in the world in this ranking), Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (ranked 501-600) and AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków (601+). The University of Gdańsk is fourth in the table of Polish universities in the 601+ range in the world, followed by UJ, UŁ, UMCS, UMK, UWM, UW and UWr. In total 870 universities from all over the world were ranked in this category, having the greatest contribution to the development of such disciplines as communication and media sciences, political science and international relations, sociology and geography.
It is worth noting the high position of our University in the selected criteria. In the scientific impact indicator measured by the number of citations, the University of Gdańsk takes the second place among Polish universities (giving way only to the SWPS University), while in the Industry Income indicator we take the joint second place with the UAM, right after the Jagiellonian University.
The WUR 'by subject' ranking includes more and more universities every year. They are based on precisely developed indicators, such as those used to create the overall Times Higher Education World University Ranking, but the methodology of their use has been calibrated to match individual subject areas.
