Aleksandra Melzacka, the University of Gdańsk student will compete at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics! Aleksandra Melzacka and Kinga Łoboda, competing in 49er FX class, are the first Polish sailing team to officially qualify to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Aleksandra Melzacka is a second year psychology student ( Faculty of Social Sciences), and her teammate is the University of Gdańsk Faculty of Biotechnology alumnus. They teamed up to compete in the 49er FX class two years ago. In July 2018 they finished 8th at the Skiff European Championship, a month later ended up 21 at the World Championship in Aarhus, Denmark. In 2019 they were 14th at the European Championship and 12th at the World Championship. In June 2019 they achieved their biggest success yet, finishing as runner-ups at the 2019 sailing World Series Final Marseille. This year came another success, they finished third at the Oceania Championship.
