The Campus run, a run around the UG campus, is now behind us. The idea of ‘run for fun’ attracted a large number of supporters of sport in its recreational form. Because it's not about results, but about overcoming one's own weaknesses and, above all, having fun!

The run around the UG campus took place on December 5. ‘The idea behind this run is very simple. We want to activate the academic community not only during the summer but also to show that running is a form of activity that can be practised all year round. You don't have to be a competitive runner; you can do it in a recreational, fun form. That's the run-for-fun formula - it's about completing a run and winning against your weakness, overcoming the weakness of going out into the field and dressing up in sportswear. Once you put on your sports shoes, you suddenly get a lot of endorphins, and when you do it in the company of so many great people... We are very proud of what is happening here today,’ says Tomasz Aftański, Director of the Centre for Physical Education and Sport.

In the women's competition, those on the podium were:

  1. Ludwika Korniat
  2. Olga Kużelewska
  3. Michalina Herold

In the men's competition, the top three places went to:

  1. Dawid Czechowski
  2. Marcin Jadczyszyn
  3. Piotr Baranowski

Last year, the run was held at the Gdańsk University of Technology, this year we are hosting the runners at our place. The main aim is to move amateurs, professionals, anyone who wants to run. Each participant gets a T-shirt at the start, and after the run we invite you for a healthy snack and tea. The run is not demanding, it is only 2 kilometres. This run is not about counting results, it is all about movement and having fun - in other words, run for fun. The first three people in each category will be awarded a prize, but we are not focusing strictly on sporting results here. As you can see, the turnout was great, which makes us most happy,’ adds Piotr Walczak, President of ASA UG.

The organisers of the event were the Centre for Physical Education and Sport at the University of Gdańsk, COSA ASA ASA Górki Zachodnie and KU ASA University of Gdańsk. The project was co-financed by the Ministry of Sport and Tourism.

We invite you to view a photo report from the event.
