The ASA UG martial arts team took part in the annual European Universities Championships. This trip will go down in our club’s history - the University of Gdańsk returned from Tirana with three medals! Thanks to this result, our university has become, alongside AWF Katowice, the most successful Polish university at the European Universities Championships.

Agata Pałka-Przybylska was crowned European University Vice-Champion in judo! Competing in a higher weight category than usual (+78 kg), she lost to her opponent only once - in a fierce final.

Margareta Kąkol returns with a silver medal in kickboxing (K-1 format, -60 kg)! The Polish representative stormed her way to the final, knocking out one of her opponents along the way. In the decisive fight for gold, following a tough contest, she was defeated by the reigning World Silver Medallist from Spain.

Nikola Zaborowska won the bronze medal. Our kickboxer took the lowest step on the podium after competing in the highly competitive kick-light category (-55 kg).

Among the men, Marcin Kotlik (judo, -66 kg) deserves special mention; after fighting no fewer than five gruelling bouts, he finished in an impressive 5th place in Europe!

We’re bringing home three medals from Tirana, which makes the University of Gdańsk - alongside the University School of Physical Education in Katowice - the most successful Polish university at these championships! A huge round of applause for the whole #UGteam and the coaching staff for the sheer excitement, passion and for representing the University of Gdańsk so well on the international stage!
