Julia Łapińska, a student at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics at the University of Gdańsk, has been playing ice hockey since the age of five. On Saturday 18 April 2026, she won the gold medal in Division IIA of the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships with the Polish senior national team. The UG student of practical computer science also finished fourth in the overall season statistics of the Polish Women’s Ice Hockey League.
Julia Łapińska is studying both practical computer science at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics at the University of Gdańsk and sport at the Academy of Physical Education and Sport. Together with the Polish senior women’s national team, she took first place at the Division IIA World Championships, held from 13 to 19 April in Bled, Slovenia, and secured promotion to the higher Division IB. The Polish senior women’s national team faced Australia, Iceland, Chinese Taipei and Slovenia in succession, securing a full 12 points.
Earlier, on 28 March 2026, Julia won a bronze medal at the Polish Tauron Women’s Hockey League Championships with her team, GKS Stoczniowiec Gdańsk. In the PLHK season-long statistics, she ranked fourth out of 145 players!
