National academic conference: Kashubians in PRL. PRL in relation to Kashubians

grafika

Within the last few decades, the Kashubian community has experienced profound changes that affected all aspects of life: social, political, cultural and economic. The Kashubian Institute and the European Solidarity Centre have prepared space for a scientific discussion on the subject - it will be possible during the national scientific conference Kashubians in PRL. PRL in relation to the Kashubians, which will be held on May 16 and 17 at the ECS.

World War II was a traumatic experience for Kashubians. After the war, they expected a new, more just Poland, in which communities such as the Kashubians would be able to preserve their identity, develop their own culture and enjoy full civil rights. Such hopes and expectations were discussed at the Kashubian Congress in January 1946 in Wejherowo.

The reality turned out to be much more difficult and complex. On the one hand, the new authorities' attitude towards the Kashubian community after 1945 was marked by a lot of distrust. On the other hand, they tried to involve its representatives in the structures of political life, especially on the local level.

The organisers of the conference invite you to a discussion - on May 16-17, European Solidarity Centre.
