The University of Gdańsk, the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre and the Theatrum Gedanense Foundation would like to invite you to a series of events held on May 24-29, 2022 under the common title: JERZY LIMON: INSPIRATION - DIALOGUE - POLEMICS. The programme includes: an international academic conference, exhibitions, a concert, film screenings, a performance and the naming of a theatre hall at the University of Gdańsk after prof. Jerzy Limon
The extraordinary achievements of prof. Jerzy Limon have left a permanent mark not only on the University of Gdańsk but also, thanks to his life's work - the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre, have become part of the culture of our region and country. The events will begin on the Professor's birthday and almost a year after his death.
The events commemorating the achievements of Jerzy Limon will take place in both institutions that were close to him - the University of Gdańsk and the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre. The former will host an exhibition of Daniel Chodowiecki's prints of Shakespeare's plays from the collection of the National Museum in Gdańsk, a performance wiLIaM ON my mind inspired by Shakespeare's work by the theatre group of the Academic Cultural Centre, and Shakespeare on screen: variations, mutations, parallel worlds, at the A. Wajda Film Centre of the University of Gdańsk. Another important event will be the ceremony of naming the theatre hall in the UG Neophilology building after Professor Jerzy Limon.
In turn, an international academic conference entitled Jerzy Limon: inspiration - dialogue - polemics will be held at the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre and accompanied by an exhibition entitled The Praise of Madness, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Theatrum Gedanense
Foundation and the history of the founding of the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre, and the concert Music for w while.
