We would like to invite students, doctoral students and employees of the University of Gdańsk to participate in one-day Saturday excursions in the series "Historical holidays with CASiD", organised by the Centre for Student and Doctoral Activities in cooperation with the UG Students' Parliament, the Student Self-Government Council of the UG Faculty of History and the editors of the 'University Gazette'.
This project aims to promote historical knowledge in a way that is not only accessible, but also spectacular, and to integrate members of the UG academic community during day-long excursions.
Re-enactments of historical events from centuries ago, such as the Battle of Grunwald and the Siege of Malbork in 1410, the Polish-Swedish Battle of the Two Vases in Gniew in 1626, or the Festival of Slavic Mythology in Owidz near Starogard Gdański, where there is a reconstruction of an early medieval castle, have been attracting crowds of history enthusiasts for years. We hope that our initiative will contribute to the widest possible dissemination of this form of learning and experiencing history also among members of our university community.
The trips will be organised by bus or minibus, depending on the number of participants. Transport for participants on the trips is free of charge. Participation in the events that are the aim of the trips will be free of charge, as well, if possible, visits to museums, while catering will have to be provided by each participant.
Details of the individual trips, such as registration, places and times of departure and return, will be announced each time well in advance on the CASiD website as well as on the Facebook and websites of our partners.
Below are details of the first trip.
Tour I - Grunwald (re-enactment of the Battle of Grunwald) - July 16, 2022
The excursion is open to UG students, PhD students and employees.
