UG student won bronze medal in canoe sprint

Ksawery Hajdamowicz, student of the University of Gdańsk and member of ‘Motława’ Gdańsk Student Sports Club, won a bronze medal in Canoe Sprint Polish Championship. Due to the coronavirus pandemics, the competition was held following a strict sanitary regime. In 500 meter individual competition, the Gdańsk resident advanced to the final stage right after the qualifying round, just to win place on the podium.

- I am satisfied. Almost every international competition has been cancelled this year, there weren’t many opportunities to compete, that’s why I am additionally satisfied with the result. 500 meters is my favorite distance, and the whole sprint went according to the plan. My last year’s 200 meter silver medal was the first canoe sprint senior medal for Gdańsk club in over thirty years. I am happy we didn’t have to wait so long for another one – stated the winner, moments after the competition.

Ksawery Hajdamowicz participates in dual-career student-athlete program at the University of Gdańsk, which ensures best conditions for athletes to continue developing sport’s career and academic education at the same time.

Canoe Sprint Polish Championship took place on 14-16 August at the ‘Malta’ regatta track in Poznań.
