Inauguration of University Secondary School in new premises

From the first of September 2022, the Paweł Adamowicz University Secondary School in Gdańsk will operate in a new location. Its headquarters will move to Wrzeszcz. The ULO focuses not only on the quality of education, but also on inter-university and international cooperation, especially within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme.

The official opening ceremony of the new ULO headquarters, which is located at ul. Romualda Traugutta 92 in Gdańsk, will take place on September 2, 2022 at 14:00.

The school aims to provide modern education based on the principles of partnership and respect, educating in the spirit of values and openness, tolerance and understanding of multiculturalism.

'The new school year marks the fourth year of the Academic Secondary School's existence and at the same time a new stage in its development,' - says dr hab. Arnold Kłonczyński, prof. UG, Vice-Rector for Students and Quality of Education. - 'The offer for the 2022/2023 school year includes five profiled classes, with extensions in the sciences as well as the humanities. Classes at ULO will be taught by experienced didacticians, including university teachers, who will share their knowledge, but also their passion for science, with the school's students. It is worth recalling that two partner universities, the Gdańsk University of Technology and the Medical University of Gdańsk, have joined in to support the development of the ULO, with the Positive Initiatives Foundation sharing its organisational experience.'

The school is distinguished not only by its wide, profiled range of extra-curricular activities, but also by its cooperation with the academic community.

'We are entering a new stage, involving even more lecturers from UG, PG, and GUMed, universities that have signed a patronage declaration for ULO,' - says dr Piotr Szeląg, Vice-President of the Management Board of the Positive Initiatives Foundation. - 'We plan to provide ULO students with a wide range of extra-curricular activities, as well as the opportunity to use the specialist laboratories of the three largest universities in Pomerania. The school is also committed to international cooperation, especially within the Erasmus+ programme. What's more, by having our own building, sports facilities and a green area where we plan to build an educational garden, we will be able to open up to the community of Gdańsk. Our ambition is to create a meeting place for the whole community, whether through open lectures or the organisation of sports activities for seniors, for example. We want the new ULO to be vibrant and become a new landmark on the map of Gdańsk worth visiting.'

The Paweł Adamowicz University Secondary School in Gdańsk is a public secondary school, free of charge, established by the University of Gdańsk in 2019 and run by the Positive Initiatives Foundation in partnership with the University of Gdańsk, the Technical University of Gdańsk and the Medical University of Gdańsk.
