School year beginning ceremony at the Gdańsk University High School

Students and teachers at the Paweł Adamowicz Gdańsk University High School started the new school year on 1 September 2020.

The school year beginning ceremony was attended by second-year students and this year's first-graders, the teaching staff and the authorities of the University of Gdańsk including Professor Jerzy Piotr Gwizdała, Rector of the University of Gdańsk. Principal Waldemar Kotowski formally announced the beginning of the school's second academic year. On behalf of the University of Gdańsk, Professor Arnold Kłonczyński, Vice-Rector for Students and Education welcomed the students back from vacation.

The ceremony marks the beginning of the second year of operation of the Gdańsk University High School. Currently, the school has 196 students: 99 second-graders in maths-physics and biology-chemistry extended programmes, and 97 students who are starting their education in programmes with special focus on mathematics-physics, computer science, biology-chemistry, Polish language-history or mathematics-geography. English as a second language is taught as an extended course in all programmes.

The University High School in Gdańsk was established by the University of Gdańsk with the support from the Gdańsk City Hall and the Pomeranian Board of Education.  It is a unique educational institution which benefits greatly from the University of Gdańsk infrastructure and academic staff.
