Movember at the University of Gdańsk: we support cancer prevention

November is a month that can be associated with moustaches, thanks to the combination of the terms moustache and November into the word Movember. This catchy neologism was coined not just for the sake of it, but to help promote an important health campaign that takes place in November.

The campaign, which began in Australia in 1999, has been promoted around the world to raise awareness and direct people's attention to the important subject of cancer prevention, the potential symptoms associated with the development of 'male' cancers and the diagnosis and genetic testing for increased predisposition to testicular or prostate cancer.

November has been declared International Men's Cancer Awareness Month, with the funny moustache as its symbol, to help spread awareness of men's health activities. Testicular cancer is a disease with a relatively good prognosis, but as with many other conditions, the timing of diagnosis is very important, therefore prevention and self-examination are key, and unfortunately, these are still heavily neglected.

This year, we would also like to involve the University of Gdańsk academic community in the Movember campaign!

We encourage you to join the action and take care of your own health!
