'Portrait of a Woman' meeting at the University Bookshop Faculty of Social Sciences

On March 8, the University Bookstore at WNS became a friendly space for conversation and integration for every female scientist, staff and student at the University of Gdańsk. In an exquisite atmosphere and with Wisława Szymborska's poem 'Portrait of a Woman' in the background, women from the UG academic community celebrated their holiday.

They were assisted by the Vice-Rector for Research, prof. dr hab. Wiesław Laskowski, who brewed high-quality coffee for each participant of the event. The University of Gdańsk and the 'Książką i Kawą' café took part in a campaign by the LaCava roaster, who will donate PLN 10 for each packet sold in March 2023 to support the Flower of Womanhood Foundation. The organisation supports the prevention of cervical cancer.

As part of the celebrations, there were various promotions at the 'Książką i Kawą' Café, and the University Bookshop prepared a discount for women on all books (-15% on each title). On March 10, International Men's Day, the same discount will be available to men.

The event was attended by UG authorities, female scientists and staff from across the university. The event, in cooperation with the University of Gdańsk Publishing House, was organised by the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, dr hab. Anna Jurkowska-Zeidler, prof. UG
