Preliminary overview of admissions at the University of Gdańsk

20 people per place - the most popular among candidates for first-degree and integrated master's studies at the University of Gdańsk is our new course this year: Japanese Studies. We already know the preliminary results of the recruitment process for most majors.

Recruitment for studies at the University of Gdansk is underway. Enrolment for most majors has been closed yesterday ( July 12, 2023). The process will take longer at the Faculty of Management, Faculty of Economics, and some majors run by the Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of History. The first lists of candidates will be announced tomorrow - Thursday July 13.

Preliminary data shows that - taking into account the number of people per place - during this year's recruitment process at the University of Gdańsk, the most popular among candidates for first-degree and integrated master's studies are: this year's novelty and absolute recruitment hit - Japanese Studies (20 people per place), Scandinavian Studies (Norwegian or Swedish language track), Criminology, Journalism and Social Communication, and Psychology.

However, the highest number of applications in total was recorded for the Psychology degree programme, with almost 2 200 applicants choosing it. Immediately after it, the most popular majors are Law (over 1.3 thousand applicants), Management (over 1.1 thousand applicants), English Philology, and Economics (over 1 thousand applicants).

It should be emphasised that due to the ongoing recruitment, a full summary will be possible at a later date.

The University of Gdańsk's offer for the 2023/2024 academic year comprises over 90 fields of study. Over 11,000 students are planned to be admitted: nearly 9,000 places for full-time studies and 2,600 places for part-time studies.

During this year's recruitment, we also introduced several novelties.

We have extended our offer with another full-time, first-degree programmes. The Faculty of Philology offers Japanese Studies and Creative Writing, the Faculty of History offers Cultural Assets Protection and Museum Studies, and the Faculty of Management offers Sports Management (management studies).

In addition, we are constantly striving to enrich our offer of studies in English. This year, we have not only transformed the specialisations conducted in English at the Faculty of Economics (International Business and Logistics and Mobility) into majors, but we are also coming up with an offer to start training in completely new majors: Tourism and Hospitality (at the Faculty of Social Sciences) and Marine Biotechnology (at the Faculty of Oceanography and Geography).

It is worth noting that we will not charge any fees for the new courses in English.
