Erasmus+ is an initiative of the European Union supporting educational exchange. It offers the opportunity not only to study abroad or take part in professional mobility in different countries but also to carry out international educational projects.
The University of Gdańsk is running a project that has been funded under Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnerships in the Higher Education Sector. The project ‘FLEvolution - XXI st Century Skills in French Languages Learning and Teaching on higher levels through Contemporary French Literature’ is part of the action: stimulating innovative practices in learning and teaching.
Dr Katarzyna Kotowska from the Department of Romance Literatures of the Faculty of Philology is the project manager. It is worth mentioning that prestigious partner institutions - the Maison des écrivains et de la littérature from Paris, France, and the Universitaet Innsbruck from Innsbruck, Austria - are also participating in this endeavour.
The 'FLEvolution' project seeks to promote the teaching and learning of French at advanced levels using contemporary French literature. Its main objective is to develop the participants' linguistic and stylistic skills while paying attention to intercultural aspects and 21st-century skills in didactics.
Within the framework of 'FLEvolution', there will be three cycles in which students from Polish, Austrian and French universities will form international groups. Together with tutors, they will prepare linguistic and stylistic tasks and exercises based on contemporary French literature. The project also includes online and live training, seminars with writers, networking meetings and student mobility between partner universities.
The main outcome of the project will be the development of a learning platform called 'FLEvolution', which will be a tool for learning French. The platform will be hosted permanently on the University of Gdańsk's server. In addition, the project will bring cultural and practical benefits to participating students and will help to create an inclusive and future-oriented network for project staff.
Furthermore, 'FLEvolution' incorporates green practices, i.e. digital activities and publications that will be implemented in an environmentally friendly way.
The total amount of funding is €250,000, including the UG budget of €168,400.
We would like to congratulate Dr Katarzyna Kotowska and the entire team on receiving the funding and wish them the best of luck with this ambitious project. We hope that the scientific achievements resulting from this initiative will contribute to the development of science and strengthen the position of the University of Gdańsk in the international arena.
