On Thursday, March 11th, at 6 p.m., the UG DKF Miłość Blondynki (Love the Blonde) invites you to a discussion about the film Zabij to i wyjedź z tego miasta (TN: Kill It and Leave This Town) directed by Mariusz Wilczyński. The special guest will be dr hab. Paweł Sitkiewicz, prof. UG.
The author of the picture is Mariusz Wilczyński, winner of the Golden Lions for Best Film at the 45th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia. It is the full-length debut of the first Polish animation artist. As the organisers of the discussion emphasise, Wilczyński's film is 14 years of life devoted to the realisation of this personal project. - 'It is a journey into his own and his country's past, evoking the ghosts of people and places, a therapeutic story about family and a moving tribute to friendship,' - they announce. Wilczyński's film resurrects childhood with all its anguish and delights, recalling those who have passed away to give them new life. Immersed in details, colours and dialogues recalled from memory, it becomes a chronicle of communist Poland's childhood and youth experienced in the times of transformation, a story about changing Poland, about greyness unexpectedly gaining colour.
One of the main characters of the film is blues music - songs by Tadeusz Nalepa and the Breakout band. It is worth adding that the film characters were voiced by Barbara Krafftówna, Andrzej Wajda, Irena Kwiatkowska, Krystyna Janda, Gustaw Holoubek, Anna Dymna, Marek Kondrat, Daniel Olbrychski, Magdalena Cielecka or Małgorzata Kożuchowska, among others.
The discussion will take place on Thursday, March 11, at 18.00 and will be moderated by Krystyna Weiher-Sitkiewicz.
