Director of the University of Gdańsk Museum elected Vice-President of the Association of University Museums

Mgr Marta Szaszkiewicz-Sawa, Director of the University of Gdańsk Museum, has been elected Vice-President of the Association of University Museums for the 2026–2030 term.

The decision was taken during the Association’s General Election Meeting, which took place on 30 June 2026 at the University of Warsaw Museum.

The election of a representative from the University of Gdańsk to the executive committee of this nationwide organisation bringing together university museums is a mark of recognition for the work of the young UG Museum and its already significant contribution to the preservation and promotion of academic heritage.

The Association of University Museums brings together academic museums and collections from across Poland. Its aim is to preserve, document and promote academic heritage, as well as to support cooperation, academic research and the exchange of experiences between university museums. It brings together representatives from 127 museums, collections and other institutions.

The Director of the University of Warsaw Museum, dr hab. Hubert Kowalski, prof. UW, was re-elected as President of the Association. The roles of vice-presidents, in addition to the Director of the UG Museum, will be held by: dr Marek Bukowski (Medical University of Gdańsk Museum), dr Marta Piszczatowska (University of Warsaw Museum), and dr Urszula Bończuk-Dawidziuk (University of Wrocław Museum).
