'KEEKS 2022' - conference report

Science and student activities, sustainable development, cooperation with the environment, interdepartmental integration and interdisciplinary discussions - are just some of the objectives achieved during the Congress of Economic and Environmental Student Circles 'KEEKS 2022' held at the Faculty of Economics of UG. The event continued the tradition of integrating students and scientific circles around the themes of economics, international economic relations, chemistry, environmental protection, ecology and sustainable development.

During the congress, which took place on April 2, 2022, at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk in Sopot, we had the opportunity to listen to many extremely interesting lectures. The actively engaged audience directed a great number of questions to the speakers, and the themes of the conference and speeches allowed us to learn about many new issues during the moderated scientific sessions.

It was also an opportunity to honour the winners of the competition 'And you can become a lecturer', organised within the project 'Science Clubs at the University of Gdańsk - known and unknown faces of science', co-financed by the Ministry of Education and Science. Authors of the winning presentations in the economic category presented their speeches during the second session of the Congress. In addition, secondary and primary school students from the Pomeranian Voivodeship delivered their presentations.

We should appreciate the integrative values of the conference bringing together scientific circles from different subject areas, the time discipline and sense of humour of the session moderators, as well as the whole team involved in operational activities related to the course of the conference, thanks to which the transfer of a huge dose of knowledge was not only very pleasant but also effective.

The idea of the congress originated at the Faculty of Economics in 2017 at the initiative of the tutors of scientific circles. This year's edition of the event was organised as part of the project 'Science Clubs at the University of Gdansk - known and unknown faces of science' as part of the Social Responsibility of Science / Excellent Science programme, co-financed by the Minister of Education and Science.

The Congress aims to create a platform for the exchange of views and knowledge, as well as interdisciplinary research results and to enable the scientific development of students gathered in scientific clubs.

The scientific sessions of the Congress 'KEEKS 2022' were attended by representatives of the scientific clubs of the University of Gdańsk representing the Faculty of Chemistry and the Faculty of Economics: Chemical Business Club, Scientific Club of Chemists, Scientific Club of International Finance, Scientific Club of Environmental Protection, Scientific Club of Start-up Entrepreneurship, Scientific Club of Academic Tutoring Tuttees, Maritime Scientific Club and Scientific Club of Logistics.

It is worth noting that the substantive level of all the speeches was very high, which is a reason for great pride in our students.

The jury evaluating the speeches, consisting of academic staff and students, did not have an easy task and the question and answer sessions documented the high level of knowledge and involvement of the speakers.

Congratulations to the Laureates and all the Speakers of the 'KEEKS 2022' conference.

The conference culminated with the presentation of awards for presentations in the chemical sciences and economic sciences categories.
