COMBINED UNIVERSITY CHOIRS AND PREMIERE AT THE POLISH BALTIC PHILHARMONIC

Last Saturday, May 28th, the Polish Baltic Philharmonic played the premiere of Anna Rocławska-Musiałczyk's composition inspired by the sea, 'There and Here performed by two excellent choirs: the Academic Choir of the University of Gdańsk and the Tadeusz Tylewski Choir of the Medical University of Gdańsk.

The final of the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the Choir of the Medical University of Gdańsk named after Tadeusz Tylewski, to which the Academic Choir of the University of Gdańsk was invited, ended with a concert in the Polish Baltic Philharmonic. In the first part, the combined choirs performed Gaudeamus Igitur and then each of the choirs presented a short unaccompanied recital.

In the second part of the concert on the stage appeared renowned jazzmen from the Tri-City: Mikołaj Trzaska - saxophone, Olo Walicki - double bass, Jacek Prościński - drums and at the piano - composer Anna Rocławska - Musiałczyk. The combined choir (over 100 singers) was led by Błażej Połom - conductor of the Choir of the Medical University of Gdańsk, celebrating its 75th anniversary.

An amazing musical composition commissioned especially for the Jubilee, to the words of a poem by Bogdan Jaremin, professor of the Medical University of Gdańsk, was enthusiastically received by the numerous audience gathered in the Baltic Philharmonic; there was no end to the ovations and delight. The atmosphere of friendship and good cooperation, which accompanied the project and the concert, is a beautiful forecast of intercollegiate cooperation and joint initiatives at the highest artistic level.

The UG Academic Choir was prepared by Aneta Majda and Filip Cieszyński, while Magdalena Niestoruk was responsible for its organisation.
