You can still enrol in the new major in Management and Communication in the Performing Arts until September 15

Recruitment is underway for a new second-degree course: Management and Communication in the Performing Arts (ZaiKSS). This is a modern bilingual master's degree course for future cultural managers with a special interest in the field of performing arts. Registration will close on September 15.

The course is a unique result of cooperation between the Faculty of Management and theatre scholars from two units of the Faculty of Philology at the University of Gdańsk: The Department of Drama, Theatre and Performance and the Department of Performing Arts Research. As a result, students acquire interdisciplinary knowledge and competencies within two parallel educational paths: in management, marketing and law-oriented toward the performing arts industry and knowledge of artistic specificity and the latest trends in stage creation in Poland and abroad.

In these two areas, the studies place particular emphasis on the aspect of communication, seen both from the perspective of the manager's work (interaction with employees, contact with the social environment, language competence) and from that of the stage's communication with the audience (various forms of artistic expression in performance, dialogue between the artist and the audience).

Part of the course is taught in English, with an additional 120-hour course in Communicative English for arts management.

Diploma seminars are conducted in both Polish and English and offer a choice of topics in either management or theatre studies.

Students have the opportunity to carry out independently planned research initiatives as part of a research project, as well as gain practical work experience in art institutions of their choice during a 100-hour work placement.

The studies are organised based on cooperation with many theatres in the Tricity, which gives students privileged access to these institutions.

Graduates of the programme are prepared to undertake managerial work in theatres, artistic agencies, impresario institutions and cultural centres, as coordinators of artistic projects, organisers of cultural events in the field of performing arts and specialists to work in various departments of artistic institutions, also in the field of promotion, marketing and PR.

'It is a major for active and creative people, for those with an open mind and open to people. For those who dream of an interesting profession and an original place to work, where applause is heard every night,' - comments dr hab. Małgorzata Jarmułowicz, prof. UG from the Department of Theatre Drama and Performance.
