The achievements in the field of financial management of dr hab. Julia Koralun-Bereźnicka, prof. UG and dr Dawid Szramowski from the Faculty of Management at the University of Gdańsk have been recognised. The academics received the βeta Prize - an honourable mention in the form of a 37-centimetre statuette cast in bronze - awarded to them for, among other things, their scientific monograph 'The Economics of Corporate Trade Credit in Europe' - The award received is an important motivating element for further scientific work, the laureates say in unison.

'The Economics of Corporate Trade Credit in Europe' is a scientific monograph aimed at a wide range of researchers interested in short-term capital for companies.

- 'The study demonstrates the role of trade credit in the functioning of business entities. It is a comprehensive source of knowledge about the role of trade credit in the development of enterprises, as well as about the impact of this form of financing on the development of economies,' - says dr hab. Julia Koralun-Bereźnicka, prof. UG from the Department of Corporate Finance, WZ UG. - 'In addition to a comprehensive review of the theoretical aspects of the role of trade credit in the economy, the paper discusses the importance of key factors influencing the behaviour of companies in terms of trade credit policy.'

As the authors of the publication emphasise, trade credit, despite its versatility and extensive use in economic practice, has not yet been fully characterised, especially taking into account the specificities of domestic markets. The monograph fills this gap. The authors aggregate the existing knowledge and supplement the existing sources with the results of their own research, covering a significant group of European countries.

The research results presented in the monograph may be of interest to those involved in financial management. - 'Understanding the differences in the management of accounts receivable and accounts payable, resulting, for example, from country specificities, is necessary to better understand business finance and its operational functions. This knowledge can contribute to increasing the efficiency of short-term capital management of companies, especially those operating in the global market,' - explains dr hab. Julia Koralun-Bereźnicka.
