The University of Gdańsk students will go to FISU World University Games

Nearly two hundred athletes will represent Poland at the 31st Summer FISU World University Games (formerly known as Universiade) in Chengdu. The primary student sports event will take place in late July and early August, and the red and white will compete in twelve sports disciplines. The University of Gdańsk students in the national team are Edyta Bielska (athletics section) and Mateusz Kozak (fencing section).

Mateusz Kozak won a silver medal in the overall team classification in fencing with the University of Gdańsk team at this year's Polish Academic Championships. His individual performance in fencing had a significant impact on the final result of our team. Edyta Bielska also contributed substantially to UG's gold medal at the Polish Academic Championships in Poznań.

- We are delighted that our students have been included in the Polish national team for the Universiade in Chengdu and will be able to present themselves on the international stage. It is worth noting that Weronika Lizakowska, a former student of our university but still a member of our AZS UG club, is also in the squad. We will keep our fingers crossed for our own and the entire Polish national team,' says Piotr Walczak, President of AZS UG.
