On life at the bottom of the sea – Deep Sea Chat Summer School

Deep

Workshops and lectures on the mysteries of marine micro-organisms will start on August 22 at the Faculty of Biology UG and the UG Library. During the four-day summer school, scientists from all over Europe will talk, among other things, about the functioning of extremophiles - organisms adapted to live in extreme ranges of variability in environmental factors.

‘Invited guests are high-level experts in deep-sea microbiology, metagenomics and protein structural analysis. The lectures and workshops are open to all students, postgraduates and young researchers,’ announces dr Anna Kaczorowska from the Faculty of Biology.

Between August 22 and 25, scientists from the UK, Norway, and France will talk about life at the bottom of the sea. Deep Sea Chat comprises 11 talks and laboratory workshops, which have been organised as part of the INDEPTH project.
