Starting tomorrow, the International Climate Adaptation Summit (CAS 2021) will run for two days ( January 25-26, 2021) in the Netherlands. Representatives from governments, civil society organisations, science and business will participate. Accompanying events will include climate-related film screenings and an online discussion, also with the participation of UG researchers.
Our country's representatives at the CAS 2021 will include, apart from the UG, the Akademia Klimatyczna, Hevelianum, Instytut Ochrony Środowiska - Państwowy Instytut Badawczy and Spółka Gdańskie Wody. Akademia Klimatyczna, whose aim is to educate on climate change, is organising an online discussion on adapting to climate change globally, regionally and locally as a side event to the CAS 2021 Summit. It will address the problems of our cities, but also as distant as Zimbabwe.
Participants will include Izabela Ratajczak-Juszko, Director of Akademia Klimatyczna and discussion leader, prof. Maciej Nyka, UG Faculty of Law, Małgorzata Hajto, Institute of Environmental Protection - National Research Institute, Department of Environmental Assessments, Ryszard Gajewski, Chairman of the Company Gdańskie Wody. The discussion will be joined by Barbara Rajkowska, Institute of Environmental Protection - National Research Institute, Klimada 2.0 project manager, and Tomek Michniewicz, journalist and traveller.

The summit will also be accompanied by screenings of films on climate change. These include "Climate Change and the World Around Us" - on the impact of climate change on water management and the development of infectious diseases, a recent UG production, featuring scientists from the UG Department of Oceanography and Geography: Prof. Mirosław Miętus, dr Joanna Stępień and dr hab. Joanna Fac-Beneda, prof. UG.
