The strategy for the internationalisation of higher education and the challenges, opportunities and threats that this entails are the main topics that will be discussed by experts at the annual conference ‘Foreign Students in Poland 2025’, organised as part of the ‘Study in Poland’ programme. It is part of the 55th anniversary of the University of Gdańsk.

The development of internationalisation requires identifying the main areas of activity and setting feasible tasks. It is also necessary to deepen the ability to act together and to convince state authorities and institutions of the value of academic international cooperation. To this end, the annual conference ‘International Students in Poland’ is organised and has become a recognised venue for debating the strategy and practice of internationalisation in Poland and Europe. These conferences are jointly organised by CRASP, the Educational Foundation ‘Perspektywy’ and the host university - each time in different academic centres. This year the event is hosted and co-organised by the University of Gdańsk.

The conference will take place on January 30-31, 2025, with the participation of around 300 people: rectors, vice-rectors and directors and employees of the divisions of international cooperation, science and development of Polish universities. The main theme of the conference will be the internationalisation of science.

‘At the University of Gdańsk, internationalisation issues are an important aspect of our activities. It concerns students, academics and administrative staff alike. In addition to Erasmus + exchanges, thanks to the cooperation of teams from coastal universities in the SEA EU alliance, next academic year we will already be able to offer new courses that will be run by several universities. Thus, graduates of the courses will not only gain a truly international education and qualifications, but will also acquire the skills to navigate in a very diverse and interesting area of truly multicultural science,’ emphasised the Rector of UG prof. dr hab. Piotr Stepnowski. ‘We are all the more pleased to have the opportunity to co-organise such an important and large conference under the ‘Study in Poland’ programme with the “Perspektywy” Educational Foundation.’

An element of the two-day deliberations will be the conference gala, during which the winners of the ‘INTERSTUDENT 2025’ competition for the best foreign student in Poland will be announced, and the ‘Stars of Internationalisation 2025’ award gala will be held, honouring those who have made outstanding contributions to the internationalisation of Polish higher education.

Partners of the conference include all major Polish institutions related to higher education, science and innovation. The event is held under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Science. Organisers: CRASP, Educational Foundation ‘Perspektywy’, University of Gdańsk. Partners: Foundation for the Development of the Education System, National Agency for the Erasmus+ Programme and European Solidarity Corps, and National Agency for Academic Exchange.
