AZS Uniwersytet Gdański futsal team advanced to the Academic Championship of Poland Final, a tournament for the best Polish academic teams, taking place in February in Poznań. On their way to the final the University of Gdańsk team had to go through two qualifying stages. The Pomeranian Academic League, taking place from October 2019 to January 2019, was the first stage. Alongside our team, Gdańsk University of Technology, Polish Naval Academy in Gdynia and Gdynia Maritime University advanced from the Pomeranian Voivodship. The four teams proceeded to the second stage in Toruń and competed for the top three places that secured spots in the final tournament. Only AZS Uniwersytet Gdański succeeded and will proudly represent Pomeranian Voivodship in Greater Poland.
The Semifinal Tournament of Academic Championship of Poland took place in Toruń on 23-26 January 2020. During the group stage University of Gdańsk defeated PWSZ Konin 6:0, Poznań University of Economics and Business 11:1 (!), Poznań Medical University 5:3 and finished first. The team coached by Mariusz Kinda knocked out Szczecin University 6:0 in the quarterfinals, then went toe to toe with the later winner KJ TSW Toruń, losing 3:4 in the semifinals.
The Tricity derby determined the advancement to the final tournament. The University of Gdańsk team outplayed their local rival 4:1 and finished third overall, securing spot in the Academic Championship of Poland Final in Poznań.
