Inspiring workshops, interesting meetings and a bit of calm. Seal Summer is the latest summer proposition of the Academic Cultural Centre Alternator.
- 'Hel is visited by thousands of tourists during the summer holidays. We would like to address our offer to those who, among the crowd and the hustle and bustle, are looking for some peace, good sounds, contact with valuable books and the proximity of nature,' - says Alicja Weydmann from ACK Alternator.
One of the elements of the programme will be meetings with authors. A pleasant atmosphere, the proximity of the sea and a cultural conversation about books with a cup of lemonade in hand - important and current topics will be discussed in a pleasant and leisurely atmosphere: Paweł Antonowicz and Mateusz Kajnath, Kamil Zeidler, Rafał Król and Katarzyna Tubylewicz.
For all those who want to calm down and relax in the close vicinity of the sea, the authors of the book 'Moje tai chi', Paweł Antonowicz and Mateusz Kajnath, will present a Tai Chi show.
An unusual surprise has been prepared both for the tourists visiting the Seal Sanctuary on that day and for the seals themselves. - 'During a visit to Hel, the staff of the Marine Station told us that seals love music. That's how the idea to organise a series of short concerts especially for them came about,' explains Alicja Weydmann.
A field game has been prepared for the children who will visit Hel on July 6. Following the instructions of a specially prepared scenario, they will deepen their knowledge on ecology, as well as explore the world of Baltic fauna and flora. Those who manage to collect stamps at all checkpoints will receive a souvenir.
A children's zone has also been prepared for the youngest, a safe and friendly space where they can relax and express themselves creatively. The programme of the zone will include chemical experiments, an educational stand of the Marine Station, bubbles, creation of a marine-themed mural, chill-out on deckchairs, face painting, radio plays for children and educational talks.
A major attraction will be the opportunity to go on board and visit the scientific research vessel of the Institute of Oceanography of the University of Gdańsk. The ship is not normally open to the public, but onboard students and academics carry out a great deal of marine scientific research.
Finally, lovers of ambitious cinema will have the opportunity to take part in film screenings with the sound of the sea in the background. 'The Palm Springs' open-air cinema will satisfy the tastes of the most demanding audience.
Throughout the day there will be an exhibition of photographs by traveller Rafał Król, author of the book '25 500'.
