Are you a student, graduate or PhD student? Have you defended your bachelor's, master's or doctoral thesis on social insurance? If so, you can enter the competition of the President of the Social Insurance Institution for the best thesis. There are financial prizes for the winners of the competition.
The purpose of the competition is to increase public awareness of the functioning of social insurance and the dissemination of knowledge in this area.
The competition is open to individuals who have defended a bachelor's, master's or doctoral thesis at a Polish university in any scientific discipline between January 1, 2018, and June 30, 2021.
The competition includes three categories:
- best bachelor's thesis,
- best master's thesis,
- best doctoral thesis.
The topic of the thesis should directly concern social insurance (the required language of the thesis is Polish).
To submit your thesis to the competition, please send a set of documentation (in DOC or PDF format) to konkurs_zus@zus.pl, and in the title of the email write: "Competition of the President of the Social Insurance Institution for the best thesis". Applications sent in hard copy or to another e-mail address will not be considered.
A complete set of documents includes the manuscript of the thesis in DOC or PDF file format, a scan of the completed application form, an abstract of the thesis (max. 1800 characters with spaces in DOC or PDF format) specifying the goal of the thesis, its main assumptions and general conclusions, a scan of a certificate issued by the university authorities confirming the grade obtained in the thesis - in the case of Bachelor's and Master's theses, information about the date of the thesis defence, a short biography of the author, the thesis supervisor and assistant supervisor, if any, and a scan of the diploma of graduation or doctoral degree.
Winners of the competition will receive a financial award and the work will be published by the Social Insurance Institution.
The amount of cash prizes in each category is PLN 3 thousand gross for the best bachelor's thesis, PLN 6 thousand gross for the best master's thesis and PLN 10 thousand gross for the best doctoral thesis.
Those interested in taking part in the competition should submit their work by September 30, 2021. The shortlist of winners will be announced in December 2021, and the publication of the awarded works will take place on June 30, 2022.
