Mgr Sandra Żukowska and Mgr Beata Chmiel, second-year PhD students at the Doctoral School won second place in the national competition 'EkoMasters'.
The subject of the competition was to present a postulate, an idea or a project concerning a change in the way of functioning of the university, a selected organizational unit of the university or persons forming the academic community, which could result in a decrease in the negative impact on the natural environment.
As part of the competition, doctoral students prepared a project entitled: 'Sustainable model of university development and community building,' which focused on presenting an original model of sustainable university development and a pro-ecological initiative focusing on the possibilities of implementing: university farming - understood as university shared gardens.
The award ceremony took place during the Academic Final Gala at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw on November 13, 2021. The organisers received more than 60 works from all over the country, of which the jury selected the best 3. The prizes for the winners of the competition include publication of all or part of the submitted text in a book publication, cash prizes and training and consultation sessions.
In June this year, both PhD students also received an award from the Institute of Rural and Agricultural Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The award was given to them for preparing a project, the idea of which was to combat transport exclusion.
