Students of the interdisciplinary courses Business and Ecological Technology and Chemical Business, conducted by the Faculty of Economics UG and the Faculty of Chemistry UG, have become winners of the Pomeranian Virtual Entrepreneurship Championship competition.
They had the opportunity to play the role of owners of interactive agencies for a few weeks. The winners were virtual enterprises established by UG students, among whom there may be future Pomeranian business leaders.
The winners of the competition, implemented within the Smart Progress project by the local government of Gdańsk, were students of interdisciplinary studies Business and Ecological Technology, i.e: Rozanna Kołodziej, Kajetan Wencki, Mateusz Godlewski and Jakub Walczak. They ran their own virtual company, competing with other participants on the virtual market.
- 'Participation in the competition gave us practical insight into what it is like to run one's own business in a competitive market. Decision-making required a thorough analysis of various factors and data,' - says one of the members of the winning team. - 'This is only the beginning of our activities, so let our results speak for us. We hope that soon the University will be able to boast of even greater successes of its students.'.
The second place was taken by students of Chemical Business.
- 'We are a group of young people studying at the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Gdańsk. We are united by a common passion and desire for development,' - says Kewin Andrzejewski, President of the KNBCh. - 'The profile of our Society is not only chemistry but also economics. This means that in addition to deepening our theoretical and practical skills in this field of science, we also try to explore its economic secrets.'.
The Chemical Business Scientific Group at the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Gdańsk has been active for 5 years, engaging not only in the activities of the chemical business community but also in the popularization of chemistry and economics. - 'The members of the club take part in numerous scientific conferences, presenting the results of their research, they also research the market and change some ingredients in products to be less harmful to health,' - says dr Joanna Drzeżdżon, scientific supervisor of KNBCh from the Department of Environmental Technology, Faculty of Chemistry, UG.
Ten teams from Pomeranian universities took part in the competition.
Pomeranian Virtual Entrepreneurship Championships is a competition aimed at students of Pomeranian universities. In particular, students of faculties related to so-called Intelligent Specialisations of Pomerania. In a business simulation, teams had to make real decisions concerning e.g. employment structure, prices of offered products or marketing issues. Thanks to the course of the game, the participants could learn the secrets of company management and prepare themselves for competition in real business markets.
