Reach for your research project funding

If you are a young scientist of the Faculty of Biology UG, you can apply for funding for your own research project. The deadline for applications for the competition announced by the Dean of the Faculty of Biology UG is February 28th this year.

Employees of the Faculty of Biology without a PhD degree (employed in research, research and teaching positions and participants of doctoral studies of the Faculty of Biology or Natural Sciences Doctoral School, whose supervisors are affiliated with the Faculty of Biology) and employees of the Faculty of Biology with a PhD degree (employed in research, research and teaching positions, provided that it has not been longer than 5 years since obtaining the PhD degree) are eligible to apply.

- 'The competition for research projects of young scientists at the Faculty of Biology of the University of Gdańsk, announced every year by the Dean of the Faculty of Biology, is a grant programme that supports young researchers in the realisation of tasks connected with the preparation of their doctoral thesis or preliminary elements of their habilitation thesis as well as other individual research projects,' - says dr hab. Joanna Izdebska, prof. UG, Vice Dean for Science of the Faculty of Biology UG. - 'Realisation of independent projects at this scientific stage develops skills connected with research planning, rational management of financial means, but also prepares to apply for external funds,' - she adds.

The maximum amount included in the research application cannot exceed PLN 7.5 thousand. Within the framework of the project, the purchase of apparatus cannot be planned, and the purchase of small laboratory equipment and computer hardware can be planned only if no tender procedure is required and the purchases are substantively justified in the project description.

Rules of the competition

The deadline for submission of applications is February 28, 2022. The winners of the competition will be selected by the Faculty Committee for the Evaluation of Research Projects of Young Scientists.
