Добрий день, Ukraine! A series of meetings at the Centre for Foreign Languages UG

To make the academic and student community more sensitive to the issue of Ukraine in the current dramatic situation of armed conflict across our eastern border, the Centre for Foreign Languages initiated a project entitled Добрий день, Ukraine! (TN: Good morning, Ukraine!) On March 11 the students were introduced to the culture, history and language by Ms Kateryna Zelinska from Odessa, an English and German teacher who has been living in Tricity with her family for two years.

Do you know what the colours on the Ukrainian flag mean? Can you name traditional Ukrainian dishes? Or maybe you know interesting facts about the history of our neighbour from the other side of the eastern border?

During the presentation, Ms Kateryna Zelinska introduced the participants to the history, language and culture of Ukraine. Students had the opportunity to learn some interesting facts about this largest European country in terms of area, listen to traditional Ukrainian songs and poetry. They also learned basic phrases in Ukrainian.

The event was held as part of a series of meetings with students conducted by Ms Kateryna Zelinska in three foreign languages - English, German and Russian. Previously, students majoring in Economics had the opportunity to participate in the presentation during an English language class. In the coming weeks there will be other meetings, some of them will be held remotely. We cordially invite you to them!
