Become a bone marrow donor. Sign up in most departments

DKMS

You can register as a bone marrow and stem cell donor until April 9. Where? Every day at a different faculty of UG. Take part in the 'Helpers' Generation' campaign and join nearly two million potential donors. All healthy people between 18 and 55 can sign up.

The DKMS Foundation has been searching for, registering and testing potential stem cell donors for 13 years now. Thanks to their efforts, almost ten thousand people have 'donated' a chance for life to those in need. The organisation has also managed to create a database of 1,785,000 potential donors.

As part of the 'Helpers' Generation' campaign, which started in 2013, DKMS seeks and registers potential donors at universities. This week, the initiative has also reached the University of Gdańsk. Between April 4 and 9 at all faculties of the University of Gdańsk, there will be stands where every healthy person between 18 and 55 years of age will be able to register as a potential marrow and stem cell donor.

The registration process involves filling in a form with personal data, conducting a short medical interview and taking a swab from the mucous membrane on the inside of the cheek. Thanks to the 'Helpers' Generation' initiative, 130 805 new potential bone marrow donors have registered. 1042 of them gave those patients in need, a chance for life.
