The University of Gdańsk has become one of the scientific partners in the European Network for Skin Engineering and Modelling (NETSKINMODELS), a newly funded COST Action (European Cooperation in Science and Technology). Each COST Action is an extremely prestigious international endeavour - the current one has 101 participants from 29 countries.

The aim is to build, within four years, a network of scientists and clinicians interested in creating and working with advanced skin models. The project enables the organisation of meetings, thematic conferences and training courses, as well as short-term scientific missions (STSM).

The University of Gdańsk is represented in this COST Action by dr hab. Danuta Gutowska-Owsiak, prof. UG from the Inter-University Faculty of Biotechnology. In addition, the Medical University of Gdańsk (prof. Magdalena Trzeciak) also participates in the network, which will strengthen cooperation within the Fahrenheit Universities, as well as the Medical University of Łódź (prof. Anna Zalewska-Janowska).

Prof. Danuta Gutowska-Owsiak will also take up a position in the Polish Management Committee (MC) for the first 2 years of the project.

The project received a very high rating, ranking in the top 10%.
